Kill Bill Analysis

Firstly the scene starts off with an extreme close up of the two main female protagonists in the film. The extreme close up on the sword symbolises the power of the weapon and also shows how dangerous this weapon can be. As the scene carries on, a high angle shot is used to show the dominance of the female character and her involvement in the following scene that comes up.
Another extreme close up is used where the camera is focused on one of the female’s lips. This symbolises that each word she is saying creates tension within the audience. The use of digetic sound of the motorcycles creates more tension as the expression of the main protagonist face shows the fact she is about to face the biggest battle of her life.
The change of all scenes is very fast paced and creates a lot of excitement in the audience as it allows audience to think in their minds what the next scene is going to involve. As the entire fighter crew enters the room a high angle shot is used in order to show the dominance of all the male fighters.  The camera movement of panning is used to show all characters in the film and as there is a lot of fighters in the room, it seems unrealistic that the female protagonist will survive in this epic battle.
The use of mis-en scene acts a huge device for all characters. All the fighters seem to be fighting in black and white suits which symbolised that they are important people and are really focused on the job, for in this case is to kill the main female protagonist.  The swords that all the fighters carry show that they only have one intension of which is killing. The swords are scarily sharp which shows that the men mean business and are here to carry out the one job they have been told to do.
As the fighting scene commences the colour seems to change so that all the bloody scenes are in black and white. The use of black and white is used to make the scene stand out as the fighting scene is full of bloody and particularly gross. The clothes that the female is wearing is fully covered n blood which symbolises that she has taken part in a bloody war. Blood is covered all over her torso and splashes of blood are on her face.
The extreme close ups are used when the female is dissecting the fighters body parts. Extreme close ups are used when she cuts of the fighters necks, limbs and straight forward stabbing through vital body organs. As this whole scene is in black and white, the colour is not very clear which is a good thing as some audiences may find this disgusting, I know I did.
As we come to the end of the scene, the colour again is changed and the use of the colour blue is used as the background colour. The female protagonist is fighting with about 6 males and is all in dark black colour. We as the audience cannot see any of their facial features and this effect is used to show that the female is under a lot of pressure. As the colour blue can connote neutral situations it used to create an awkward atmosphere as most of the audience think that the fighting is over yet they are in for a shock.
In the last scene, a high angle shot is used to show what the damage that has been caused by the female protagonist. As you can see about 60 males bodies lying on the floor, some in pain some dead who can also connote that the female is dangerous and is a woman not to be messed around with.

  1. WWW - This is a well written analysis. In particular, analyse the effect of the mise-en-scene well.

EBI - Consider the effect of the sound and editing in more detail. Don't confuse low angle with high angle - you have done this several times.
